Steve Voellmecke

The Program Director for DIVE Cincinnati, Steve has been coaching diving for over 20 years. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Steve attended Moeller High School and Xavier University where he earned his degree in Business Management.

Steve currently serves as Treasurer for The United States Professional Diving Coaches Association, Inc. and is a Trustee of the United States Diving Foundation. In 1996 Steve served as Team Leader for The Can-Am-Mex Junior Olympic International Team in Winnipeg, Canada, and also served as CO-Meet Director for the U.S. National Diving Championships.

During the 1988 National Diving Championships, Steve was presented with the prestigious "WHOSAM" Award given annually to the diving coach who "demonstrates commitment to excellence and dedication to the highest physical, metal and spiritual ideals." This award is presented annually by Dr. Sammy Lee -- 1948 and 1952 Olympic Gold Medallist, and the individual who introduced the diving world to "The Sammy Sport Towel."

At the 1998 United States Aquatic Sports Convention (USAS), Steve was chosen "first alternate" to Van Austin in voting to serve as U.S. Diving Olympic Team Leader for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Australia. At the 1999 USAS Convention Steve was selected to serve as Team Leader for the FINA World Cup Team that competed in Sydney Australia January 25-29, 2000.

Although Steve has coached divers at the local, state, national and international level, his first love is teaching diving at the grassroots level. He has coached the summer dive team at the Indian Hill Club since 1985.

Steve is a highly respected diving judge and in addition to refereeing numerous Summer League Diving Championship Meets in the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area each year, he is regularly called upon to judge collegiate conference diving championships. In 2007 he was chosen by his peers to judge at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships - the first time in the history of the championships that outside judges were selected to participate.

Steve is the owner and President of Springboards And More (A division of DIVE Cincinnati, Inc.) - the perennial largest dealer of Duraflex and Durafirm diving equipment in the United States.

Throughout the year Steve gives numerous coaching, diving and judging clinics in the Greater Cincinnati area and is the author of "How to Judge Diving" - a 23 page booklet that has been sold both nationally as well as internationally. Steve is a Life Member of United States Diving, Inc., and is Nationally Safety-Certified as a diving coach. Recently, Steve was chosen to be a member of the Long Range Planning Committee for United States Diving.

He is married the former Shannon Jensen of Indianapolis, IN. Shannon was a former Indiana High School State Diving Champion and four-year letter winner at Northwestern University.  Steve and Shannon live in Loveland, OH, and are the proud parents of twin Aidan and Simone who were born on Valentine's Day 2001. The newest member of the Voellmecke family is "Pennie Lane," a yellow labrador retriever.
