"Scores Please" Now Available

Scores Please

"Scores Please" is a "must see" for anyone connected with the sport of diving. You'll want to review this valuable resource video, again and again.

Finally, in an easy-to-understand video - a complete and accurate guide for beginning diving judges. A wealth of valuable information is presented step-by-step, illustrated with scenes from an actual high school diving competition. Experienced diving coaches Steve Voellmecke and Lori Rapp lead us through the rules of the National Federation of State High School Association and U.S. Diving.

Topics include:

  • the five categories of dives

  • the six parts of a dive

  • the four flight positions

  • awarding points and calculating scores

  • failed dives and mandatory deductions

  • referee and announcer roles

  • helpful suggestions from experienced judges

The viewer is invited to practice judging typical dives, then Steve and Lori replay the dives in slow motion and give reasons and rationales for the actual scores. This program fills a real need, not only for beginning judges but as a refresher for those with more experience. If you're a coach or a diver, you'll now better understand how judges evaluate and score dives.
