One of the most popular activities offered
by DIVE Cincinnati are the "Bubbler Trips" to the
new pool at Miami University in Oxford. Interested divers are
transported to the venue in a large van where they can then
attempt new dives in the "Bubbler" Machine and the
spotting belt over the water.
The "Bubbler" is an impact-reducing device that lessens
the fear of "smacking" and thus speeds up the learning
process associated with new dive attempts. The spotting harness
is a set of ropes and pulleys that attach to the diver and allow
for learning new skills and dives without the chance of getting
hurt.
The trips are open to any diver in the DIVE
Cincinnati Program BUT only to the first 12 people who register.
Each registered diver will have the opportunity to use the spotting
harness above the one-meter and use of the "Bubbler"
machine (either on the one meter or the three-meter board).
Cost is $50.00 per person and includes a sit-down
meal after the practice. Registered divers can either meet a
the Miami University Pool or if in need of a ride, can meet
other divers in the parking lot of the Blue Ash Best Western
Hotel at I-71 and Pfeiffer Road to ride to Miami together in
a large van. Meeting time for "Bubbler" Trip
#1 is 10:15 a.m. Riders will, be returned to the Blue
Ash Best Western after practice and a meal.
