Steve Voellmecke &
Woody Franklin Visit Baxter State Park |
| |
Steve Voellmecke &
Woody Franklin took an excursion to Baxter State
Park in Maine with the goal of climbing Mt. Katahdin
(5,276 feet) this past September.
Although the goal of climbing the peak using the
dangerous "Knife's Edge" route was not
accomplished due to dangerous weather, the trip
was ultimately a great success! |

Joe and their daughter Kaitlin.
As you can see from her license plate, Abby is

Robyn Karlage a Kansas
Jayhawk |
| |
Former DIVE Cincinnati
Diver Robyn Karlage (Holmes H.S. 2002) checked in recently
with the coaches. Robyn is currently a sophomore diver
majoring in Exercise Science at Kansas University in Lawrence,
Kansas. She injured her shoulder during a recent Training
Camp in Florida and she will undergo shoulder surgery
that will keep her out of the water for about six months.
In the summer, Robyn coaches the diving team at Brookwood
Swim Club where she has for the last five seasons. Last
season, her team won the NKSL "A" division regular
season and the Champ meet. At Kansas University, Robyn
has been a "Jayhawk Scholar" for the past two
semesters, (getting above a 3.0 GPA). Last spring semester,
the KU swimming and diving team had the highest GPA in
the athletic department and this past fall semester, they
had the second highest. Robyn says that diving and school
take up a lot of her time
right now, but after graduation, she plans to attend graduate
school in the
exercise science field. |

Kyla Hanser National
Champion at Transylvania |
| |
Kayla Hanser (Notre Dame Academy 2001) is in her third
year at Transylvania University. She will graduate in
May of 2005 with an elementary education degree with an
emphasis in English and communications. She is in Chi
Omega Sorority and holds the Intramural Chair position
her sorority and soon to be head of intramural for the
girls league and all of Transylvania.
Kayla is also a three-year member of the Transylvania
diving team and going strong.
She will be going to NAIA Nationals in March where she
plans to beat her score from last year. At the Nationals
in 2002, she placed 2nd on three-meter and 1st on one-meter
(NATIONAL CHAMPION!!). In 2003, she placed 3rd on both
boards. This year, Kayla hopes to place 1st or 2nd on
either board but as she says, "we will see about
that!" At this time, Kayla does not have a steady
boyfriend, but she has many friends and (of course) is
having a blast at school!
Kayla said she really missed diving with all of her friends
at Dive Cincinnati but she loves to stop by the NKU Pool
to see how well everyone is doing! If anyone wants to
get in touch, please do not hesitate -- she would love
to hear from you all! Email me at khanser@transy.edu. |
